CommunaliZing our Basic Educational Institutions

India is a secular country . This has been one of our greatest strength and some thing we all still proud of. Mutual co-existence with utmost respect and love for our fellow beings irrespective of their ideologies has been something which has invited world's envy to our dear India.

India is a free country too. Each person has his own free will. So he is free to take note of various ideas and thoughts and accept or reject thoughts which may or may not appeal to him . Since human beings are awarded with the power of thought, let human beings be free to choose to be free in his course of action (subject to law) . Something which we all are able to do is to share our own thoughts with one another , with equal respect to other's view on the same subject. We need not try to impose our own ideologies on others. Earlier such attempts of imposing such ideologies have led to grave mistakes with history as its prime witness( say Hitler .. add on to this list with new names .. defintely u know some more ).

In this secular fabric of our dear nation , a grave danger is awaiting future of our country. The danger caused due to the communaliZation of our basic educational institutions . More and more boards with school/college names which signifies a particular community ( be it of any kind .. hindu, muslim christian parsi ....n etc ) are piling up in our country. This could be a marketing strategy to attract customers in this era of extreme competitiveness. However, i personally fear this may slowly lead to new generation who are complete strangers to members of another community than their own , even pamper a viewpoint decorated with fear and doubt. May be , in future , a Yousuf can never have a best friend in Krishnan or Joseph , vice versa as they all might have become completely alien to each other's practises and faiths . Imagine the kind of the THREAT it will pose to our UNITY in DIVERSITY .

Wats your thoughts on these ?? Would love to know.

Delhi-6 : A movie not to be missed ; Watch at your own risk !

Delhi-6 : A movie not to be missed ; Watch at your own risk !

The header seems like a contradiction.Yes, it is well thought out statement made for/against the movie Delhi -6.

The movie is set in Chadni Chowk .Roshan , a product of Hindu-Muslim Union born in New York , brings home ( Dilli-6 ) his grandma. The movie is all about his introspective journey of Roshan through his various encounters with variety of characters in the lanes of Chandni Chowk , the major one being 'Kaala Bandhar'.

As a viewer , the most inviting factor of this movie was AR Rahman's music and expectations from Mr.Mehra based on his cult movie "Rang De Basanti". The background score and the songs of the movie is simply extraordinary. Mr.Mehra as director has also done very commendable job, however, this may go unnoticed. Sonam as Bittu has done justice to her role as well as Abhishek as Roshan. Roshan's American accent sometimes irritates you. All the character artists are classy with a special mention to the incredible gorgeous lady who play 'Rama Aunt'. The Ram leela scene is entertaining and the single 'gun shot' in the movie takes you in surprise. The whole concept is well thought and appealing . The movie can fall into a a category of a political satire. The politicisation of every event in order to garner votes is well brought out in this movie. This also questions the level of sensitivity which we adhere to anything related to Indian culture and traditions.
AR Rahman , the Indian Mozart does complete justice to his OSCAR nomination. He truely showcases his talent here . Most of his beautifully composed songs are used as back ground scores. The songs are not set piece like in many other movies except for "Dil Gira". Songs just flows with the story. Music is just played in the mindset of the characters not lip sync type songs. No doubt they are all incredibly beautiful numbers
The song picturisation of "Dil Gira Dafattan " deserves special mention and please do not miss it. I was disappointed with the usage of best song of the movie " Rehna tu" .It cud have been better. Back ground score is really good especially the Kala bandhar chase sequences and Ram leela crash sequences.

Actors in the movie are all superb. All the actors deserves applause.

The film is based on one line theme of Roshan's visit to Delhi and his subsequent love story with local gal, Bittu. However , the flow of the movie is rather uninteresting to a level that audience may chose to go for a smoke break and come back;still nothing substantial would have happpened on screen. At the intermission , audience may ask "Why are we still here ?" . Director's intention not to have a break is completedly justified. As the heart of the movie is a love story , audience really do not get absorbed in the her-heroine yearning for each other. Movie really works only in patches. There are some scenes which can really tickle your funny bones ( Sex with TV Scene, Mother cow scene etc ). The movie would like to convey a real good message in a very innovative manner . But the manner which the story unfolds is bit over the top for a normal film viewer. The movie does not have a single story but is a get together of various events which unfolds with no inter relationship culminating to verbose climax.

No one would like to be told what we are doing is wrong. That is what this movie does to common man. It questions the actions , our cultural ethos, our sensitivity to non-sensical yet so called religious issues . This film tries to question too many issues through Kaala Bandhar. This may not be liked by a lot. A common man wants to be entertained for 2 hrs inside the theatre. He does not want to think too much while watching the movie . A movie which pokes the viewer to think inside the theatre may not work much . The movie fails to engage you into the proceeding. However , after we leave the hall, this movie was worth thinking over due to its innovative presentation and novel theme and social message .

The movie may follow fate of SWADES . A movie which will be discussed a lot but fails to fall into slot of extreme entertainer. A movie which is excellent in format and packaging but somehow failing to engage the viewer.

But in a year which a movie like "Chandni Chowk to China " has released, Delhi-6 is a welcome relief & deserves a watch.

Final Personal Verdict: I liked the movie ,excellent concept, great music and excellent acting; I will not risk taking my friend to this movie as I stand risk of getting beaten up by him ( coz he may not like it at all ...) . Enjoy the movie own your own without any preconditions or pre-assumptions. I hope you will have a good experience. Have good patience and you will enjoy this movie. I may just watch it again for enjoying the background score of AR Rahman.
